If you’re running a website, then you know that search engine optimization (SEO) is important. The higher your website ranks in search engine results pages (SERP), the more traffic you’ll get. One of the ways to improve your SEO is by using redirects.
What are redirects? Redirects are instructions that tell a web browser to go to a different URL than the one specified in the link. For example, if you type “google.com” into your web browser, it will take you to Google’s home page. However, if you type “www.google.com” into your web browser, it will take you to Google’s website address instead. This is because www.google.com is a redirect to google.com.
There are two types of redirects: temporary and permanent. Temporary redirects are used when you want to temporarily send someone to a different URL. For example, if you’ve moved your website to a new domain name, you can use a temporary redirect to send visitors to the new website until you’ve finished setting up the new site. Once you’ve finished setting up the new site, you can delete the temporary redirect and visitors will be taken to the new website automatically.
Permanent redirects are used when you want to permanently send someone to a different URL. For example, if you’ve changed your website’s address, you can use a permanent to send visitors to the new website address. Unlike temporary redirects, you don’t have to delete permanent redirects once you’ve finished setting up the new website.
